So I live in the US and the Fourth of July is coming up (one of my favorite holidays!) I love getting dressed in red, white, and blue for Independence Day and since Nico wears a flightsuit very often, I had this idea to get him dressed up as well.
I didn't feel like buying an entirely new flightsuit that has stars and stripes on it would be justified, so I was thinking I would buy an applique and put it on one of the flightsuits we already have.
I'm not sure how safe this is, and I don't really want to take chances. My questions here are:
1. I know irons can be super unsafe for birds, and I currently do not own one. Does anyone have any experience putting an applique on without an iron? (I googled it and got very disappointing results.)
2. Are appliques safe to use on something a bird might chew on?

If anyone has any suggestions for flightsuit decorations let me know!

Interesting question!

As a self-avowed Queen of Paranoia, I would worry about...

*Threads, if the appliques are embroidered. Might catch toenails or tempt the bird to chew/ingest.
*Toxic glue if parts of the applique are glued on.
*If you use glue, would kid-safe school glue be safe? I don't know.

So I guess I'd probably be wary of such projects.

I hope you have a great 4th, though!

You could always get some fabric and thread and sew one. / sew some fabric onto the one you currently have.

or you could see if you can find a 4th of july themed flightsuit online? Give your little guy a nice new sunday best for the holiday
