Aren't her nails WAY TOO LONG?

We just got her yesterday. I'm no expert but I feel her nails are way overgrown. She walks funny and I think it has something to so with it. I'm wondering why the foster home before me didn't take her in? Do you think these are overgrown nails? Thanks!

absolutely! im surprised the foster home didn't take her to get them done, you should clip them so shes more comfortable.

Had a look, they do look rather long, not sure how long Amazon's nails are supposed to be.
Surely her foster home should have had that seen to.
I know with Mishka's nails, my AG, when picking him up, and they begin to "dig" into my fingers, that he requires a nail trim.
When becoming a guardian and getting a bird, a vet visit should be top priority on your list. The vet should do various tests, giving the bird a bill of clear health. Let the vet decide whether the nails are over grown or not.

To me they look too long but I'm not familiar with amazons. When I had Amigo at the vet last, she said that they were on the edge of being too long but because, I feel, he needs them, I asked her not to cut them.

Amigo does have a nail, his pointy finger, on his right foot that is a little deformed so I will keep that clipped.

Maybe, the fact that she hasn't had them done in so long, you should have the vet decide.

Those are way too long. Poor bald baby. I hope with some good guidance and loving care she'll flourish! I know it can happen

Yes they are too long ( i can see why she was plucking),When you do cut them back,be careful, you may have to cut them a little at the time. She'll have trouble perching at first because the nails aren't pointed.If you can give them a little point but becareful if using a dremel tool, they get too hot.I'm sure that bird needs some Vit A veggies like sweet potato,carrot ,broccoli,kiwi,mangos,summer squash,butternut, cantalopes ,those sort of things, oh yeah, red chili peppers,and egg yolks. She needs showers and sunshine,even in the shade she'll get reflected sunlight,but a window will filter out the UVA and UVB ,raise the window but leave the screen down. That poor bird has been neglected ,thanks for giving her another chance,hope your the one.
