Button- 3yo peach-faced lovebird (opaline turquoise ino)
Ava- 7yo Amazon hybrid (yellow-crowned x yellow-shouldered)
Ava & Button had their first sleepover last night. We took Ava out of quarantine yesterday, & the birds seemed happy to finally see each other. I think she’ll be much happier in the bird room with a big window, & on her stand in the living area in the mix of things. Here’s a picture from when I opened the blackout blinds this morning. This is Button’s sleep cage, so he went to his bigger cage in the living room for the day.

Ava is going to be one great parrot! YSA and Yellow Crown, both noted for being a gentler sort of 'zon and smart as whips!

I think so too. She really is very sweet. As we’ve been getting to know each other over the last 1 1/2 months, she’s nipped only a handful of times to teach us a lesson. Even then, it’s been very gentle. She is very smart, although a bit derpy at times. She kind of just steam rolls through anything that’s in her way. 😆

Salty will take my finger in his beak and gently push it away when he does not want to be touched. Try again and this time he will nip. Try again and now its a full fledged bite. I learn quickly.

Awe she looks happy! Congrats! I keep separate sleep cages as well :)

Purring while eating dinner on her tree stand. lol One of my favorite things about Amazons is their contented “purr.”
