Alexandrine
Hi,
My names Nicole and im new to this site..
Im just looking for some advice on my baby Alexandrine, Tully.
I have had tully since he/she was about 2 or 3 weeks old..
Tully is now 8 weeks old and is learning to fly and can step up.. Tully also is on a diet of seeds palettes fresh fruit and vegies and im still spoon feeding him once at night, because he demands it lol but doesnt really eat it.. he weaned really quickly on his own.. he's just not interested any more..
I have introuduce Tully to a cage in which he also took to really well, but he sleeps in a big plastic tub at night as he was brooded in one and doesnt seem to be ready for his cage full time.. HOWEVER the last few days he hates being in his cage at all and while he is quiet, he wont eat and spends ALL day trying to escape...
When i do eventually get him out he starts his screaming then...? I have resorted to putting him back in his tub and covering him over to stop the screaming but im at a loss to how i should be handling this.. please help...!!!

Welcome Nicole and Tully! We would love to see pictures of Tully if you wouldn't mind! I don't really know how to handle the screaming situation, does he seem to enjoy being out of the cage, or is he just screaming the whole time? Maybe he's screaming for food because he's hungry? I really don't know.

sounds like you've already been trained. I assume he stops when he gets in the tub? At that age he may not quite feel ready to be out in the world, it is scary after all. It could also be begging for a feeding or they're cold especially if they don't have all their feathers yet

I am assuming/hoping you have experience hand-feeding? And own a temperature controlled brooder?

The person to speak to is Silversage. They've been breeding ringnecks for years now and have a pretty impressive flock

Welcome to the forums, Nicole and Tully!

Not familiar with Alexandrines, but perhaps Tully is a bit young for the change? Can you try short periods in the cage with you in the room as comfort, and gradually expand to full time, of course without your presence?

Hi,
Thanks for the replies..
I only ever put him in for short periods of time and i work from home so im always about..
He is quite in the cage he just tries to escape constantly.. once he's out he starts screaming he eventually stops but can take aome time.. he loves being out i have spoilt him and has spent most of his short life out of his tub iv only just introduced the cage slowly.. he liked it at first...
Im starting to think it maybe a fledgling thing he screams and takes off...
One thing i will say about him is he learns very quickly...!!
He weaned himself very fast happened over a 2 week period i still offer him hand feeding mix but he just doesnt take it, he'd prefer a strawberry...
Also with flying he just took off one day there was plently of flapping everyday for a while but he didnt realy go anywhere then one day he just flew across the room...
I taught him to step up in 2 days.. he just sems to moving along in leaps and bounds...
I just dont know how to control this new found scream of his...
Maybe it to will pass quuckly...
I attached some photos.. i hope they worked..
Thanks Nic..
