I have a baby pineapple that I've only had for a few weeks. We've bonded really well so far. He's always curious, friendly, and can't wait to see me. I'm a little concerned about his bathroom habits though. It seems he only goes to the bathroom when I'm home. After I get in from being out he always has the biggest bathroom breaks. And when I say big, I mean BIG!! Could he be holding it? How to I stop this behaviour?

I am no expert by any means however, I don't think I would be too concerned about this. If he never did his 'thing' I would be concerned. I doubt he is holding it until you get there, may be just a coincidence. The color and consistency is a more important factor from what I have read :)

My yellow-sided GCC, Loco, holds his poop until I wake up and let him out, I have to hold him over his cage too. And I know what you mean by BIG. lol. I never potty trained him so at first I was concerned that maybe I had inadvertently potty trained him..but i kept my eyes open and he does go potty in his while Im away... so its just a morning thing. Most importantly keep an eye on any irregularities in his poop.

I had this same concern the first few days of having my sun conure. Yours will get comfortable and settle in his new environment soon enough, by then he will feel more at ease pooping. If he continues to hold it, maybe change the location of the cage where he'd feel a bit more secure. Remember, it's always good to have two sides snug in a corner of the room. It makes them feel less exposed.

I would not worry :D Also, when he feels more at ease, it would be a good idea to start training him to poop on command and to do it at designated spots in the house. It will save you major frustration later. Look up the proper ways of potty training birds. Good luck!

I have a green cheek, and like the others have said, he will wait to take a large poo until I let him out in the morning. I wouldn't worry about it unless he starts only pooping on you. Lol
It would be odd if he only takes large poops though, they are normally small poops. If he only takes very large poops I would reccomend giving him a little bit more fruits like apples to make him go more often to make sure he isn't constipated, but not enough to give him the runs
