as you can see the baby still pretty bald ... on some feathers on her wings and head. is this normal? i leave the baby under the parents care, if that makes any different

Oled, baby eclectus.

They get pinfeathers at 3 to 4 weeks it states in below post:

baby eclectus gender explained!
by: Anonymous

About 3 - 4 weeks of age you can tell the sex of an eclectus but are you referring to earlier than this age?

Usually an eclectus will lay 2 eggs, one female, one male.

Occasionally they will lay 3 eggs & occasionally they will hatch 2 eggs, both male or both female but these are not usually common.

Before the age of 3 to 4 weeks of age eclectus babies have grey dander. Females are said to have darker grey dander & the males are said to have lighter grey dander.

Once they reach 3 to 4 weeks of age you will start to see pin feathers coming through which will indicate which they are. Green ecelctus are male, red & blue eclectus are female.

Congrats. Deb also may I point out that you little one is being plucked by it's Mum. She should be a ball of grey fluff then it is replaced by pins. Are you going to take the chick for hand-rearing? My advice if the plucking continues to take the chick for hand rearing before it gets to bad.

I have posted a pic of 2 of my chicks around the same age.

Here is a pic of a 4 week old hen to give an idea of what they actually look like.

Cute cute cute!!!!!!!! They're so cute, im not letting mine have babies though!!!! Cockatiel babies right now is enough for me to handle with work and all....

Gee Mikey you don't know what your missing. I think i should have an eclectus baby hatch this morning. The egg had externally pipped yesterday.

After having a bit of a break for rearing chicks I am really enjoying the few i have at the moment.

What I will be missing is sleep and a life if I let them....lol

Please share more pictures as your baby grows and changes! :)
