African Grey Timneh
As Timneh and I add new things to our routine sometimes we forget old ones. She hates showers and I had stopped misting her. So I remember why now she gets a bit nippy but overall went well. She has a bath bowl but I don't think she's being using it and opting for her small water dish. I got her pretty drenched gave her a treat for being nice. Then I went to have her step up so I could set her on her perch and wham she had been saving it up. If I hadn't gotten away I think I would of lost a good chunk. Lol whoops better not let my guard down too soon tomorrow. She's stewing right now on her perch giving me the silent treatment. She's usually always whistling to me. There she goes all is forgiven. My little grey buddy, I love you. When I tell people just the bare basics of keeping a parrot companion they are always amazed how much there is too it. And I assure them that I only know just the bare minimum so far. Even after monthes of trying to learn what I can I still feel like such a newbie. Thanks for everyone's help in making me a better parront I know it ain't easy.

LOL, aww thats just a scratch! Greys can take a mellon baller size piece of meat out of you. Glad you made up and are friends again.

LOL, I get worse than that once a week and that's when Perjo is just sending a message. But to the point of not forgetting the basics that's a good point to remind us of. I tend to forget to say "step up" when Perjo does, and she does with zero issues 90% of the time.

My first time doing this so I hope it works. Just wanted to share with you guys.

That slow-mo flight is just breathtaking! I can’t wait until my little one has his flight feathers back. Thank you for sharing :D

Like the videos. Love that she flies to you across the room. That is my next big goal when Perjo's flight feathers return.

Nice vids Billdore! I agree the slow mo of Timneh flying is superb..and her on your head lol.. Smokey wasn't a head birdie but she would sit for hours on my shoulder..geeez I miss the little girl..:(

Timneh loves it on top of my head. Thank you everyone for watching. Its really fun to be able to put up videos now.

Day two of misting again this time she drew blood before the first spray. Nothing major but definitely harder than her usual no. She's quite good with her pressure so she knew exactly what she was doing. Lol, gonna go in for a couple more sprays just giving it a minute she flew away from me. She knows just how hard to bite to break the skin and just how hard she can pinch before breaking skin. She was clearly saying I do not like this. I'm sorry Timneh but she really did look a little less scraggly last night.

This isn't one grey that's says she's had enough. Had to give her her treat in her house she didn't trust me enough to come back out yet.

LOVED that flight video! Nice! And cracked up at her comfort level on your head. She looked like she'd stay there indefinitely! Lol!

As for the issue with misting, you may want to try running a vacuum first to get her in the mood for a shower. Apparently the sound reminds them of rain and triggers a desire to shower. Just something you might try.

I didn't realize that's why she always wants to hop in her water dish when I vacuum. I actually did that today with the vacuum first we were in the water dish than her bath bowl and then the misting. I should reverse them probably and do the misting first.

My CAG HATES the hoover, its the only time she panics and sort of growls/screams. The previous owner told me Enzo would try and bathe in her water bowl when the waching machine goes on spin cycle, maybe that is a good time as well?

I believe parrots need a shower every 3 days, but i may be wrong. Enzo is probably once a week as she really doesnt seem to like it.

Timneh likes to give herself baths but she wasn't doing a good enough job. So we've gone back to misting great idea with the washing machine. Mines unfortunately in the basement. Picture of Timneh enjoying the breeze today.its like 25 degrees cooler here than it was yesterday. Oh man so after a few sprays she's flew back to her house and I gave her a couple more sprays on the perch then she was standing next to her plastic chain tried to wipe some water off of herself puffed up, looked at me then beak punched the plastic chain. Ok your irritated I'll be back in a few, she did take her pine nut but then dropped it opting for surveillance.
