Hi everyone,
So I got a new budgie yesterday. 6 weeks old, quite friendly! :)
Now the poor thing had it's wing clipped by the people I bought him from, and he's flying, or gliding, backwards!!!
I've clipped my lovebird wings before and they certainly didn't fly backwards.
Have they cut the wing on the wrong angle? I must admit I haven't looked closely at his wing as I don't want to freak him out on his second day home.
Thanks,
P.S he is an albino budgie

If you can view how the wing was clipped it would be helpful.

Please have a look at this picture Mikey, thanks.

And here's another. It looks a bit uneven.

I've done some research on the Internet and it seems that this problem can be a result of cutting the wings too short or a very poor wing clip. Makes me so mad! The poor little birdie is only 6 weeks too young for a wing clip IMO :(

Looks to me as if they did a partial outter primary clip. With Parakeets leaving even a few primaries (the feathers causing their lift) usually still allows them to fly since they're light and small, but they can be a bit off balance in the case of my babies' clips. (they were also clipped before I bought them which made me rather sad)

Thankfully though with a partial clip it takes less time, in most cases, for them to grow back a full set of their flight feathers.

Yes the picture clearly shows it that it's only a partial clip like Fae says! I just wonder if he was ever fully flighted when they clipped him and that's what's causing him to fly backwards a bit. Nothing to worry about too much as they will molt out soon enough and he'll be taking full flight.
