Bailed and skinned tongue on concrete

Our non flying cockatoo decided to bail off of my 6’ husbands shoulder and it looks like he has skinned his tongue on the concrete driveway as a result. It was bleeding for a bit and seems to have stopped, but has anyone had an issue like this or suggestions? We’ve removed all his wood chewing toys for the time being and are going to try to keep his diet soft and bland for a couple of days.

Poor little guy! It sounds like you’re doing the right things. Just keep an eye on him and make sure he is still eating and drinking okay. Hopefully he heals up quickly!

Not much you can do other then what you are. I;d watch for any infection. SHould be at least useable in 4 days.

Soften foods slightly if he shows discomfort. It'll depend upon his personal preference as to how 'soft' he'll like.

If he's not eating well in a few days I'd take him to the vet.
