Hi there

Just wanted to ask a question. My sun conure has a bald patch on his head. He is happy, healthy, playful and energetic. He eats pellets fruit and veggies. He is 6 months old. I’m very worried, I’ve made an appointment with the Avian Vet. Has anyone had anything similar to this? I’ll attach a photo.

Thankyou

Welcome. What's your conure's name? Hope your vet visit goes okay.

Poor baby, how long have you had him? Is there a chance he might've been plucked by a cage or nest mate before you acquired him? Does he scratch at it at all? Sorry I can’t be of much help but I’m glad you found us and that you have a vet visit planned. Please keep us posted šŸ™

How odd! I hope the vet visit goes well. I wonder if it could be some type of skin bacteria or skin infection.

I spoke to the breeder he seems to think it could be mites and he said he will spray him tomorrow I went to the vet last night and the did a whole check on him and all his vitals are good. I have an appointment on Tuesday with the avian vet.

Glad this vet visit was good. Are there signs of new features growing in? New feathers are itchy. Is Pinya rubbing his head on cage bar, edge of something? Looking forward to your results.

Hi. No there’s no signs of new feathers. Just bald. I haven’t seen him rubbing his head on the cage. I’ve seen him scratch the side of his face but there no balding there. I have been putting some vitamin drops in his water the last few days. I showed him to the breeder and he said it will grown back with the vitamins and he believes Pinya has probably been stressed. I’m starting to pit him to bed earlier so he gets his full 12 hour sleep in a seperate room so it’s more quiet. I’ve told the family not to pat him on the head just to only let him sit on our shoulder only.
