3 green cheek conures all born in June 2011
I have a 2 1/2 year old gc conure who is balding just above his nostrils. He is healthy (albeit he hasnt seen his vet for this yet, I hate to give him the extra stress). He "thinned out" last year as well but not to this extent. I noticed a large amount of full feathers on his night cage so he is somehow removing them during the night.

He is fed a soaked diet plus organic fruits/veggies as well as pellets/seeds. He takes almost daily baths and is a love bug. Nothing in our home has changed but we are dealing with a drought and a very warm winter (southern California). Is this possible dry skin out maybe a weird molt? His feathers are fully intact but they aren't bloody or broken

Also- Mahina is very high stress. He came from a pet store in which his little leg became jammed in the cage wires over night. They found him in the morning with a severely broken leg and they didn't give him proper care. They just segregated him until he was week enough to sell. We talked then into giving him to us on clearance as well as his "sister". He doesn't do well with strangers and it takes him days to recover from vet visits/wing trims.

Sorry for so much info...I attached two photos of him. He is the smallest of my 3 birds and they only boy (they were dna tested).

Poor baby, at list he has a very caring owner. Thanks for treating him so good

A year ago one of my Gcc was missing feathers above the beak,it looked ridicules.
It turned out to be over exiting preening on the partners part.
Ow just remembered we have an eckie that we took over because he was pulling out the feathers of the female.
Female's are from what i have read sooner hormonal then male's,So if she wants and him not...
make sure to keep an eye on it,to see if she has an part in in.
