Taking Emmitt in this afternoon for a beak, nail and wing trimming.

Kind of stressed out. He really hates to be held or touched on his feathers. He lets me pet him, but thts about it, and that is with a lot of protest usually.

He is going to be majorly traumatized at getting his poor beak ground down.

Is it as bad as I envision it is going to be?

As long as he's healthy, he shouldn't require a beak trim.

Yes, the experience can be traumatic for them, having to be restrained and handled in a manner that they don't appreciate.

Barbara Heidenreich has a DVD on how to train parrots for the veterinary exam.

He seems healthy, eats and drinks and plays fine. His top beak has grown quite a bit since we have gotten him, not to the point where it looks odd, but just longer. Maybe it doesnt need to be trimmed, but i guess I will let the vet decide.

nails and wings definately need to be, but that is probably a lot less invasive.
