Lovebird: Izzy, Gizmo.
I've been really stressed out on all the tests I've been having to take so I've been kinda inactive these past few days. On top of that, I'm having to take Gizmo back to see the vet because he pulled out all his growing feathers and starting picking at his skin again! And since Chinese New Year is coming up, I'm going to be out and about for hours after hours and repeat every weekend this month.

I thought I would share some pictures of this Chinese New Year [Lion Dancing] while it goes along since I can finally take some good quality pictures thanks to my iPhone :p .

Of course, we gotta get every lion updated and fixed up (this was only half of what we fixed).

[These pictures aren't mine but the photographer allows anyone to share as long as we don't remove his signature/logo]. The official start of our New Years..

Gotta take a picture of my two favorites!

I wasn't able to get any pictures, s here's a recap from this past Sunday's [made from the same person who took the pictures]

Lovely images, very cool to see stuff like that. Sorry to hear about your lovebird, do you have preening toys in the cage? Don't know if that would help but it would be worth a try. I keep a rope perch in my budgies cage with frayed ends of the rope sticking out and they love to preen it off and on all day.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing Reid :)!

I'm sorry about Gizmo :(. Did the vet diagnose any sort of skin irritation? Seems like somethig is itchy or bugging him. I really hope he heals from this asap!

Great photos and videos, Reid! Thank you for sharing the fun!

I'm sorry Gizmo is having trouble again, poor guy! I hope his vet visit goes well.

Most of his toys are plastic/bells because he takes more of an interests. A while back I added in some paper toys that are still left untouched but theres going to be an increase now, just in case.

My vet believes that it's mostly due to his "deformation" on his rear, his vent is actually parted on the left side of his body, and said that theres nothing much I can do besides check to see if it's health concerns. So he has a mild infection inside and had his fecal matter tested mostly for giardia -- but no parasites was present. He's back on his oral medication for the next two weeks to help treat the infection. There's also a very slim chance that all his feathers will grow back, or any at all if he keeps pulling the growing ones out. I'm not so worried about him not growing feathers [it would be nice if he would] my main concern is keeping his skin unpicked.

Thank you for the well wishes :):) !

Great pictures. I would love to see that

Yeah! It's definitely something work checking out. I prefer the competitions because its mainly based on the adrenaline factor (poles) but in-between you get to see different types of "lion" dancing aka dragons, kylins/chinese unicorn, and northern lions!
But if you ever get the chance to come down, it would be worth to watch a few performances. A lot of Hawaii's clubs are connected internationally and are more "modern" and took part or are taking part in those competitions.

That was amazing in the mall where the lion danced on top of the poles with tiny platforms! The amazing part about it is when you realize it's TWO people coordinating their bodies together! All while wearing a cumbersome looking lion suit without falling! I'm sure it took MUCH practice...

I think they have been doing this for at least 10 years, but nonetheless, it is one of the hardest and coolest things IMO! They had a few bad falls here and there, but it wasn't something serious or fatal (there was a recent article of someone dying while on the poles).
I can make it past the first few poles/5 ft but the rest is uncharted territory. [I don't jump, I was learning-ish but retired------if I'm even old enough to say that!]

Here's the same routine from last years if your'e interested in watching the entire thing :) [ame="http://youtu.be/yGXt5uwaBq8"]http://youtu.be/yGXt5uwaBq8[/ame]

Wow! I loved it, I saw it all! :)

Omg the back person had to carry the front person and throw them in the air, then land perfectly on the tiny platform  that just blows me away. It looks incredibly difficult. Was the front person a woman? It's small on my iPad mini, and they only showed themselves for a brief moment, but it sort of looked like a woman, or at least a smaller person who was carried and thrown by a bigger person in the back. Man, that is some athleticism there. Thanks again Reid!

Haha, that was actually another guy in the head. I think I'm taller than most of them, but then again, I'm one of the taller people in the group. I've used to do both parts (on the ground) for jumping and hands-down, the tail player gets the blunt of it. If you'd like, the maker of the person of the "kahala mall" video has another one where they show the "behind the scenes/training" of the new one.

So glad you enjoyed the video:D ! The new skit they've been practicing will most likely be posted in the following few days, from the way the drum is, it sounds a lot more intricate than the previous year.
