Just got back from the Vet visit for Bingo's nose (beak) problem. He had a flat spot on his upper beak.
The vet smoothed out his beak all the way around and got rid of some of the flaking. He also got his talons trimmed up and ..... I put him in for a DNA test.

In about a week I should find out if He really is a HE.

As classic as John Barrymore's perfect profile!

Bingo is beautiful. Does he act more like a male (or female) hormonally? Do you have a good idea that he is a he? Since you've been calling him "he". That is always interesting to find out.

I have always thought Bingo was male but I am less sure of his gender than any of my other birds.
It took a long time to get him to accept touching/petting on the back. Female birds "like" touching and petting on the back. you have to be real careful with that sort of thing when it comes to female birds.

But Bingo likes to look for dark small hiding places like he is looking for a nest. He also regurgitates his food on toys. Both of these things are what I think of as female behavior.
I know male birds can and will do this but I just want to have it nailed down.

What a handsome/pretty guy/gal Bingo is Wes..

Be prepared lol with the DNA.. I always thought Amy was a "she"..surprise surprise! :p

So Amy really being "Amos", Amy allows pets on the back, and on occasion does a "bob bob bob" thing with her head with beaky open but no food comes out..I think there was a thread awhile back about someone saying that was a reaction to "adjusting" the crop??

At least Bingos' name is a unisex one :)

Wow! Your Vet did excellent in defining the Beak, even the area between the upper and lower along the side. The transition as part of the upper Beak is truly beautifully done!

So, is there any side betting going on?

Not at my house. I can't speak for the members of the ParrotForum.:p

Timneh puts a 5 spot down on male!! Shes a high roller thats like weeks of allowance.

I think Bingo is female. (A male yellow nape with no "hot three" behavior going on)??

The DNA test results came back yesterday. He is for sure a boy.

Not sure what you mean by hot 3 behavior. He can be aggressive. He can be territorial. and around December/ January he gets hormonal and needs to be labeled "handle With Care" ;)

"Hot 3" is a phrase you'll occasionally hear pretty much meaning what you said about Bingo's temperament "handle with care". The phrase is meant specifically for 3 Amazon species - Yellow Nape, Double Yellow Headed, and Blue Fronted.
