I woke up to a mighty screech around 4am & ran out thinking Audrey may have hurt herself. But instead she was wide awake, acting very hyped up and just climbing all around her cage non stop. I thought it was very strange. She never usually wakes up so early... The sun doesn't rise until about 6am here at the moment.. Any reason she could of done this? She did it once before on her first night with us.

Maybe something scared her or she had a night fright. My BC conure used to have a night fright every once in awhile, and my new Grey had one the first night she was here.

I would even think that they dream, and could have a bad dream. My cat does all kinds of weird things in her sleep that I think are due to dreams. And once she started screaming in the middle of the night and attacked my arm before she woke up. That was pretty scary, and she hurt me as well. So if cats can, I figure birds can as well.

You know, you could be right. She was a little shaken up, I tried to calm her down and put her back on her perch and she would flap right off it instantly. Poor bugger. She's pretty quiet today!

I live in a loft apartment, so my bedroom is open to the living room where Roxy's cage is, so I can hear everything that she does. At various times during the night I hear her eating or climbing around. Then she goes back to being silent. I think they all do it.

I have heard her climb around a few times, it was just the shriek that scared me then the kind of "Hyper-ness" Haha. I'm sure it would be okay as long as she doesn't make a habit of it, I don't want an alarm call at 4am every morning hahaha :P

It's difficult not to react, if the bird normally doesn't scream at night...

When Shrek, my quaker, screamed I was in the room, before I even woke up... He had apparently had a fight with a wild rat, and was too injured to save...

I now have Max, and Alexandrine, and I work shift work, which means I sometimes have to sleep during the day.. Max is so well adjusted to my routine, I need to put an alarm on to make sure I wake up...
