I decided to make bird bread for Kalypso as she isnt keen on raw fruits and veggies. This was the first time ever I made bird bread. I used the recipe from of the Cockatiel Cottage. It is as follows:
1 box of Jiffy corn bread mix
3 eggs
3 tablespoons of cornmeal
1 tablespoon of peanut butter
1 small jar of baby food sweet potatos
1/2 cup of apple or pinapple juice(I used pinapple)
2 egg shells finely ground to powder or scrape cuttlebone with a knife for one teaspoon(I used cuttlebone)
The directions on baking:
Prepare the Jiffy mix as package says. Add the other 2 eggs and the remaining ingrediants to the mix. Stir to peanut butter disolves. Pour it into a pan (I used tinfoil) and bake at 325 for 25-30 minutes.
It turned out pretty well. Kalypso is nervous about it but have enough to introduce a little every now and then. Next time, I will add some veggies and/or fruits to the bread.
