We just got a Maxi at Christmas time. He is 35 yrs old and was with a lady who has dimentia so she could no longer take care of him. He adapted well and very quickly to us and our house. We are going on vacation for a week at the end of March. My Mom will be watching him, which he sees her at least 5 times a week. Will we be ok in bringing him to her house for the week or will that be too much for him? She has no other pets and he will get lots of attention. I am leary about leaving him at our house where he wouldn't have much interaction except for when she would stop in daily to feed him. Any thoughts?

I would take him to her house rather than leave him home alone for most of the day and night for a week. IMO he would be much happier, and safer:)

Thank you for the response. We were leaning more towards bringing him to "grandma's".:)

Would you be able to take him there for a few visits before the vacation? Then it wouldn't be strange to him (and you could see his reaction in time to do something about it, if he would be happier at home).

But I'd probably lean toward taking him to Grandma's too.

When I have to leave my parrots and I just have someone coming in to feed and clean cages I have television programmed to come on couple times a day with their favourite shows lol my parrots do have tv time lol and radio is also on timer so it is not quiet
