Bird wont stop chewing on what looks like flem?

I have a 8yr old congo that just started to do this 2 days ago and wont stop is the something wrong with the bird? The bird is still eating and drinking but he wont stop chewing on what looks like slime.

You need to get your grey to an avian vet asap! This is caused by an infection, usually of the crop and needs meds to treat.

Thank alot for the advice i made an appointment for tommorow. Is the infection something common to greys?
