black capped conure

i got my black capped conure last saturday he is almost 5 months old has 2 toes missing but does not stop him from climbing & whatever else he wants to do his tail feathers are horrible i think he was in too small of a cage here's my question he does not want to come out of his cage they told me to force him out but i really don't like that how can i get him to want to come out?

Considering you have only had him for a week, I recommend letting him come out in his own time. Open the cage door and let him explore. If he wishes to come out, he will do so. Whenever he does come out, reward him for this behaviour. You want him to know coming out is a positive thing, not a scary thing. By the sounds of it he lived a very rough life, and he likely views the cage as his safe place. It's hard to convince birds that coming out of their safe place is a good idea, but with work it will come.

When he does come out, reward him with some apple, grape, or bananas - these are often favourites and are easy to eat. Give him a "big" piece so that he can eat it on top his cage. Alternatively, you can use nuts such as almonds or pine nuts to reward the behaviour. Move slowly and talk softly to remind him that you're there and have no intention to simply grab at him.

You might find it easier to use photobucket or a similar app, that way you aren't limited as to how many photos you can post. Looking forward to seeing Cooper's pics.
