Black Cocky in the wild

I had a bit of a look for some pictures, my Gang Gang Pic is so bad I wont put it here.

When I flew to New Zealand from the USA, had to make a stop in Sydney and Melbourne. I recall going to NZ and looking over the Australian landscape. Saw a small flock of big white birds. Couldn't tell what they were from my altitude but always guessed they were probably cockatoos!

Hello,

The shape and size will confirm what you saw. They are by far the most common large white bird. Like Galah's in many area's they are regarded as a pest. If you have nice cedar window frames, they can get chewed. At one stage the CSIRO ( Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organization ) was trying to drug food, ( near crops ) so they would associate the place with a bad experience and not go back.
