One thing about blue throats that I've heard for talking with owners and read about them - they are the mechanics of the parrots world. One owner who has 2 had to have all the nuts, bolts and screws of their cage welded after tightening because the birds kept taking the cage apart. He said one time the whole thing collapsed because of it. ANd several sources say the same thing about them. Having said that, kme3388 is right - each bird is, well, their own bird so to speak. Just because a species is noted for talking, or for learning tricks well does not mean the next one will exhibit those same traits. Each is an individual unto itself. And yes a lot has to do with how the parrot is brought up, treated and the bond(s) it develops. Throw in the radical changes to likes, dislikes and new emerging behaviors that puberty can bring, let alone when the parrots really come into their own as a full blown adult male or female, generalizations have to be taken with a rather large dose of salt.
Having said all that, Blue throat macaw is one of my favorite parrots and had it been possible for me, I'd have had one. THey are BIG, tho not the biggest macaws, and by all accounts very intelligent and working with a smart animal has its up sides and down sides. Make 100% certain you will have the time and resources for a LONG time if you're really considering getting one.
