Hi my name is Trisha,I live in Wyoming! I just got a nanday conure parrot from a lady that couldn't have him anymore... at first he loved me n was nice to me now he has bonded with boyfriend and will not let me hold him or pet him n if I try he bites or screams at me I would love tips on how to get him to like me! Also this is first bird I have owned so any tips on training,food,behavior problems and how to stop them ect would be great! Thank you!

Your parrot's name is Boba? I love it. Offer Boba treats that he really loves when your boyfriend is not around. Earn the birds love though food. My Illiger's macaw loved me and did not really tolerate anyone else however other were able to handle him when I was not in the room. This may be how your bird will have to be handled. Boba has picked your boyfriend as his special person.

Some kinds of parrots like conures 'switch' favorite people. They are also prone to seriously favor a person when joining a new flock. This (often) stops. Try group hugs. Hug your boy friend, then add the bird to his opposite shoulder, hug him again, have him pet both of you. Try to get it across to your bird that you ALL are part of the flock. And be patient. It may take months. He may just want to be a 'one person bird' which does happen.

Screaming is normal for conures. This particular screaming is a 'no I want to be with him' but the 'scream' or 'squak' is the typical conure call it is a very loud bird family.

Also keep in mind that this bird was pre bonded, and to a single person. It is not used to the very concept of a multi person bond and that has to sink in as well. To this bird a flock is 2 people (one of which has feathers and a beak) not 3. Patience . Try to see it from his eyes. There's a very complex mind behind them.
