I know it is late, but I just had a fantastic break through with Davy. I was saying good night and he was letting me give head scratches. He likes to playfully beak my fingers and usually holds my finger with one foot. (He sometimes bites, but we are working on pressure). And I was talking to my boyfriend and wasn't paying 100% attention and he stepped up on my finger!!! He looked at me like "what's up mom?" Stood there calm as you please for a good 30 seconds before going back to the cage. It was like he was saying, see? I am getting there don't give up on me. :green:<3

Congrats to you and Davy! Sometimes great things happen spontaneously!!

Yayyyy! I love it when great things happen unexpectedly!

I bet things really start happening now that the "barrier" dropped a bit.

Go Davy!!

Thanks everyone! I was sorta giving up hope he would ever trust me enough for that. But this gives me hope he could one day be a cuddle bug :)

Congrats!! That's awesome. Love those moments. How long have you been working with him?

We got him in June. His first owner had him in a very small cage, with one perch and so many toys he had no room, left him in a dark room and never got him out. A trucker recused him, but because he was a long haul trucker he didn't have time, so gave him to a couple. This couple already had a Grey, and they thought it would be easy to tame him.

They got him a big wonderful cage, but when Davy bit the husband, they stopped working with him, and because it made their Grey jealous, they stopped letting him out as much. That is when my boyfriend saw the ad they posted on fb, and got him for me. We went to meet him and take him home if we 'clicked'. The whole time we were there, Davy kept saying "hurry up" the only words the couple had heard him say.

Davy loves women, and responds to me and my daughter much better than my bf and my two sons. I have been the one working with him, and we have made huge strides. After a few bites and me getting to know both him and reading up on 'Zon in general, and the huge help this community has given me, I have a lot of hope for him becoming a happy well adjusted :green:.

Sorry about the book lol, I am just very happy with him, so much more so that I could help a bird that had a rough past. We are also tackling his diet, trying to get him to eat veggies and fruit. He loves his seed :/

Don't be sorry. Love the story of our bird's journeys. I'm going through the training of a newly acquired scared WBC.

What is your WBC's story?

I have a new WBC who was traumatized on the drive home from picking her up. Screams constantly (not typical WBC behavior [emoji17]) and won't 'step up' anymore. Pretty much screams and hides. So, basically I'm re-training again but hope my apt won't get ticked off in the training time.

so happy for davy and you. keep up the good work. davy has finally found a true home and great mom that is understanding of his needs.
