I wanted to study up on breeding and wanted to hear from any breeders or former breeders about what books or resources might be good to start with? I would really love to breed one type of bird someday in the future when my kids are grown and moved out (which is still a few years away). I figure it gives me time to really study it and be well prepared. I would love to breed Queen of Bavaria conures someday because they are so rare and hard to find. It would be nice to contribute to them staying available in the US. I love conures, they are great little birds.

I'd say a REAL good way to start would be with this book: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1895270103?keywords=howard%20voren&qid=1449140749&ref_=sr_1_2&sr=8-2"]Parrots: Hand Feeding and Nursery Management: Howard Voren, Rick Jordan: 9781895270105: Amazon.com: Books[/ame] :)

Thanks Wendy, I'll grab that and get started. I'm not going to do it unless I'm sure I can handle it.

That's actually the breeder's bible right there...

Buy that book NOW. I bought it just about a month ago and the cheapest I could find it was around $60. I just looked on e-bay and it's much cheaper now. Right after the one author died it was going for $80 and usually well over $100.

Also, read what is on the internet. Loads of information out there and read species specific if you can find it. Remember that not everything you read in the internet is true and everyone has an opinion.
