Hello everyone. I have begun after many years of owning parrots and raising smaller species started the journey of what I hope to be many years of breeding macaws
My new pair is 14yr old male Military Macaw who lost his mate
22yr old Female Blue and Gold Macaw who was rehomed to us because she was mating with her toys and repetitively laying eggs.
They’ve been in a large 6’ H 8’W 8’ L aviary
Male works the nest box I’ve yet to see the female enter the nest box so fingers crossed they do well
My next question is. What species of macaw does every find easier to begin with breeding and why
What size aviary as I’m planning another one like this one. How far apart do you typically keep them as right now they would have a privacy wall but be 4-5 foot apart from the other aviary.
Would love everyone else’s opinions on other easier large breeds to start with
