This weekend my husband and I committed to DJing a birthday party well before Buddy entered our lives. We had Buddy for close to three weeks. I work from 100% of the time! my husband is gone for about 12 hours each day, mainly the drive to work that cuts down that time.

Buddy has bonded with me I believe. I can rub his head and neck, he will step up for me, visits me on my shoulder and is a perfect gentleman so far. I have been reinforcing NO with him when he nibbles too hard or gets crabby with me when I tell him to step up.

When my husband gets home from work, walks in the door, Buddy yells "Hello" numerous times. My husband visits him by his cage, Buddy is all about biting him. He gleefully takes popcorn from anyone though so my husband gives him an evening treat. I think my husband's voice gets to Buddy. My husband is loud. I've told him to talk softer. A smidge of improvement in Buddy, but a long road for that.

For those that took a zon in their home that wasn't a baby, how did you accomplish trust with your zon?

I got my Alfie 6 weeks ago and he's about 8 years old even tho his owner passed away he's had no trouble settling in.

Starting off you couldn't touch any part of his body, he would climb in panic around his cage and screaming and biting really hard.

I started off sitting next to his cage talking for hours on end and after getting a few bites I put on a thick jumper and I bought some thick garden gloves and started off scratching the top of his nose and eventually every time I went to scratch his nose he always puts his head down for a scratch on his head.

When he came out of his cage I went to handle him by putting my arm around him giving him
No choice but to get onto my shoulder.

I spent hours just standing still with him
On my shoulder.

After about a week or so he started to let me touch him everywhere, he started talking nuts from me and gives me little nibbles and kisses.

Now he's exploring the stairs with me and doing really well but it's took hours and plenty of bites but it has all payed off.
