green cheek conure "frick" aka Elvis!
so, i ended up with a parakeet.

am I correct to assume that my gcconure, if given the opportunity, would injure this little bird?

It's not tame yet but is young enough that I won't have any trouble training it.

Thanks.

It definitely could, GCC are feisty and think they are bigger than they really are ;D. Its better to be safe than sorry. Good luck with your new little guy!

^ I totally agree with Ann, plus GCC can be territorial and jealous.

Will you be quarantining the budgie from your GCC just in case of disease?

There's a chance he may hurt the little keet but I have seen people having them together and did just fine. But just be cautious and like it was mentioned above, quarantine!!!!

As Mikey said, it is possible for them to get along. Budgies have the same "bigger than I am" attitude and don't mind going up to larger birds and pestering them!

Just because it's possible doesn't mean that your two birds will get along. We have no way of telling you whether or not two birds will get along or of they'll end up hurting each other.

Also, my son is 5 and is absolutely smitten with his bird. He asks all the time if we can have a training session with his bird!

My budgies and GCC get along, although it took some time getting there. It really helped to get them to eat out of the same dish, but highly supervised at first. They all tolerate each other and hang out together on the same thing (frame, stand, etc) without any trouble. All 3 are out all day with no problems. But it wasn't easy.
