Budgie playing

I didn't get a photo or video, I was having lunch, actually, but our budgie George astounded us today by playing with a piece of rope, from a disintegrated bird toy, about 15cm long. He wrested with it, was on his back a lot and generally had my wife and I cracking up with laughter. He looked more like a lorikeet! I'd never have thought that a budgie would play so "actively" with a toy, he does hop onto his toys, and is fascinated by bells and talks to them. To see such fun being had with a short piece of rope was a revelation.

Budgie's are great little acrobats and play things! We love watching our Brucie (we call him a grumpy old man) really get into playing with a toy, chattering, bashing, ringing the bells on them etc. It's lovely!

George isn't actually hand-raised, but mostly tamed. He learned a few words very quickly, but now seems intent on learning the call of every bird in the house and hasn't learned any new words. He's especially good at imitating the Plumhead parrot. He's absolutely fearless, too, but we do try to keep him away from the eclectus. He's like a "busy-bee" and cracked me up the other day by landing right on the back of our female 'tiel Ziggy (who he has taken a real shine to) and they both fell backwards, without injury but lots of laughs from me. I wish now I'd gotten a tame budgy long ago

Budgies are so adorable when they play. One of my budgies, Phoebe, is extremely playful. One of her toys is a stack of wicker stars with a bell attached to it. She holds onto the bell and runs around in circles with it (it's attached to the cage). It is hysterical!

Budgies are often underrated!!! They are such funny and entertaining birds!

Budgies are little clowns! I swear mine never not get into some mischief.....They mess with everything.....

I loved watching my girl, I could have for hours, she was so entertaining. They really do make such wonderful pets!

Yeah, once they get used to their home, budgies are definitely very playful! They can make a toy out of anything! Chipper even likes playing with empty 35mm film containers...she'll roll it around and pick it up and toss it!

They're great pets, and great little friends. They're easy to tame, and can be very friendly and affectionate.
