I have been noticing for a while that the preening gland of one of my female budgies is more visible than the others, i tought it was because she is a bit "skinny" compared to the other budgies, but tonight, after analyzing better, i noticed its swollen. I never heard of health problems in that gland before, anyone knows what might be?

Some additional info about her: she isnt plucking, and doesnt seems like its bothering her, and im not sure its related, but she has some health problems that make her unable to fly, making her sedentary compated to my other budgies

( i will go to the vet as soon as possible)

Oops. Bird did it.
I've never looked closely at a budgie's preen gland. Let us know what the vet says.

I'd like to know what vet says too.

Curious, so checked with a cousin who raises chickens. She said in her hens it was diet related. At the time she was feeding 100% seeds. She switched to something else. Problem disappeared over time. She also said rarely a duct (don't know how many a chicken has) can become blocked. Swelling can occur slow or fast depending upon what the blockage cause.

I hope the vet has answers and the bird isn't uncomfortable.
I've had an inflamed tear producing gland right above my right eye (dacryoadenitis) for six weeks and it looks and feels awful. Dr's haven't been able to help me but I'm going to another specialist soon. Maybe I need a vet 😏

So after 15 days of treatment (the vet prescribed ointment, anti fungal and anti bacterial medicines), my budgie got a lot better in that regard (the swollen part is 80% smaller) but i just noticed that her vent has became a bit swollen :( im going back to the vet tomorrow to see whats the cause
