Oh no! Midori just figured out how to open her cage!
I glanced over and she was standing there holding it all the way open, just staring at me. Naughty clever little thing!! :D

Birds are so clever, and so cute.
Make sure you close the door securely, if you are going out or if you are not close by. Accidents happen so quickly.

These kinds of clips are good for closing doors (the kind on the tent, i forget what they are called....) [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Aussie-Bird-Fleece-Large-Colors/dp/B003PL1OHY"][/ame]

Her doors are all locked with mini carabiners now, haha.
I'd have just twist-tied them, but she figured out twist ties a while ago.

These are the "key rings" I use to lock Mishka's cage with.

I think every cage I have is clipped because the birds figured out they could escape not only through the doors, but the area where their food bowls are as well. Plus I have a quaker that loves nothing better than to open someones cage door and allow them freedom. He hates the clips on the cages and will climb down to investigate why he cannot get the door open.

Lol Garnet.

Midori hasn't actually tried to open the door again since it's been locked. I'm tempted to think she was just opening it for attention. (Of course, that's not to say I don't believe entirely that she'd get out and into trouble if I left them unlocked, now!)

She has a bigger, heavier, much nicer cage on the way, so maybe this one will be Midori-proof. :P

Jade doesn't mess with trying to open the latch...she takes the bolts out so it just falls off. Hello, LocTite.

I've only had sunny for a week and she figured it out. I put clothes pins on it, and she's tearing those apart now. I'll have to try something different eventually.

Puck hasn't figured out how to open his big parrot cage, but he's opened his travel/sleep cage once. I didn't get a lock for it because he's never in it unattended, and he hasn't opened it since.

That bird is the new Harry Houdini, you could make a business out of it as Houdine did lol

Good thing you have another cage coming. Most large cages have locking mechanisms that work really well. Sometimes, I even struggle to get them open... but I digress. I'm glad I don't have to worry about that, just them running for the door when I'm changing food/water. It's like when the doors open at walmart on black friday:)
