I'm thinking about upgrading Nika's cage. Currently, her cage is 30" tall and 19" squared. Been looking at some nice ones, but they always seem smaller than what I have....I mean, they're fancier, as far as shape-wise, but they don't look as wide. Plus I don't want her to freak out. Her current bar spacing is 7/8",with a few variations here and there. Also, she only really hangs out in the upper area anyway, she NEVER goes to the floor. She's out at least 6-8 hours a day, and when not clinging to me like a baby monkey she's on top of her cage or on her sun deck which hooks on.
I used a box of baking soda to scale, lol!
Also I'm worried that the stress could cause her to pluck. Opinions would be appreciated.

Have you looked into flight cages? They are a great size and affordable.

Set up a new cage next to the current cage, let her watch you and be curious. When I set up Rosie's new cage I made it so she could climb into the new cage from her old one(climbed in immediately and never even looked back haha).

If she has never plucked before I wouldn't be too worried, just make the change slow and go at her pace.

Actually, she's a former plucker, she was bald as a baby when I got her (rescue) but she's covered up now. She never plucks anymore. So, it's a concern.

aww, poor baby!

Just take it slow and watch her body language. Do you introduce her to something new everyday? That really helps to make new things less stressful

Yes, she's not averse to new things, she's pretty brave and very curious. We've come very far and I don't want to do anything to set her back. I'm a little concerned about her present bar-spacing, but she's never attempted to stick her head through or anything. My question is, do you think her present cage is too small?

Jer present cage isn't too small no but of course the bigger the cage the better. Like it was mentioned already let her visit the new cage and allow her to play on both of them. Have food and water in both cages and let her get used to the idea. ;)

The one I want is in a store nearby, I'm gonna go measure it Monday. If all is well, I'm getting it. It's beautiful, looks like a temple. Only 267.00. (Sale)
