caging plans? will this work?

im getting a quaker soon(i hope!). and just want to make sure i have everything i need. here it is:

for a cage, i am looking at one that is powder coated steel. it is about 40 inchs by 40 inchs by 65 inchs. will have plenty of toys and perchs to keep him entertained while i am at school or somewhere else. cage will be in my room(doesnt get alot of trafic but whenever im home he will be out of cage and with me)

i will build a play gym on a stand for my living room because that is where i am most often. so he can either sit on me or go on him gym

a mini play gym (just not as many toys or perchs) OR a t-stand with a toy hanging from about( via an arm coming or the stand, not from cieling) for my family room. it will be smaller because he will not be there as much. also for that room i am going to make a mini desktop perch with no toys so he can be right next to me on computer( when i do homwrok or this website!)

in the kitchen i will make a T-stand with no toys or anything because he will only be in there for dinner time(he will at least sit with us for dinner if he is not hungery)

and finally in my room. easy. the cage i want has a perch on the top of the cage....

what do you guys think? he can always be with me at least!

Sounds like a good plan, just be sure that everything you use to build your stands is bird safe.

I can't really advise on cage size because I'm not sure what kind of bird you are getting, sorry I missed have missed your previous posts. I thought most cages that were powder coated were wrought iron? All of the steel cages I have seen aren't coated since stainless steel is safe and super expensive.

I'd recommend using PVC to make your T-stand and your portable table-top stand, if you can. Wood is nice, but if you don't have access to bird-safe wood, PVC holds up much better. Also, I'd recommend a toy or two on the table-top perch. You're going to be doing other things, not paying attention to him exclusively while doing homework and birds get bored easily. A bored bird can easily equal destruction. He'll want to climb down and chew on this piece of paper, that book, that cord/wire... you get the idea. It doesn't have to be chalk full of toys, but one or two to make him happy and to be able to redirect him to when he starts getting a little too curious about what your computer mouse does.

Sounds like a great Cage to me!

I would make the Playstand out of Wood.. There are many woods that are Birdsafe! Most Birds prefer wooden ones as they are easier for them to grip

It sounds great! Only question I have is with the cage being so big, what is the bar spacing? You want to make sure the bar spacing isn't too big for the bird to get his/her head stuck, or to escape.

thanks! i think your right it is iron but it is coated so it is okay. i will put soem toys on the dest perch. and the bar spacing is only a 1/2 in so it is good. ill make everything out of wood. maybe the desktop out of pvc coated with twine for grip
