Calming tip for bluffing teens

I tried this on my girl and it really helps
Aside from the obvious push into the bite don't withdraw, I've found the following 2 things very usefull in calming Piper when she starts going into a biting frenzy
I can't say I would recommend it for older birds with harder sharper beaks as it takes some practice to get it
So when birdy starts posing and displaying, hissing and lunging to bite, quickly, gently but firm grab the top part of the beak at the sides
You may have to repeat to get its attention
All the while talking in a soothing voice
Then slowly start stroking the beak down the centre from top to bottom to avoid nasty surprises!
After a few strokes Piper has calmed down sufficiently for me to give her a scritch and have her step up.
Those of you who decide to try it, plz let me know how it works out for you, I'd like to know if its a once off lucky thging for me or if it may actually help some teen birdies over their aggression

Ive done this with Mango by instinct once when he was going nuts on my pinky finger. Usually I ignore it, but he was just biting harder and harder and I was surprised. I took it for a few seconds, and then I just put my fingers on either side of his beak to distract him and he calmed right down. I expected him to just attack my thumb and forefinger, but I just wanted him to let go of my pinky. I thought it was just a freak accident and Id just surprised him or something, I didnt realize this is a technique. I havent done it since, but he also hasnt attacked me like that again. I didnt have to stroke him, but I also didnt keep him on my hand, I put him back in his cage to calm own. He was just as crazy in there, attacking everything in sight. If I didnt know better Id call it a tantrum. Hes not usually a big biter, but he is also not even a year old yet.

My hubby used to do this and I ended it rather quick. It just peeved our birds more and was extremely annoying to them and for me to watch

It propably depends on the birds personality. Why I have her step up is because she usually does this when she goes territorial, over Busters cage! She chases him clean off and iritates the living hell outa him. So when I want to remove her she starts her tantrum. For now its working although mabey as she gets older this will mabey also start annoying her.
