who knew when I woke up this morning, I would be getting a baby conure!
I was scanning kijiji this morning, like I always do, and there was this ad, it had just been posted 1 minute before I signed on.
born in April, a beautiful hand tamed green cheek, plus all the accessories for $100.00-no strings attached. the best part is this sweet bird is split to BLUE!
so if he ever has babies, I will now have conures split to blue or blue....not that I am intending on breeding him, but I'm just thinking ahead
we met the owner at her condo, which was very luxurious, and she came out of the elevator with three bags loaded with accessories, and terrible food(I'll get to that in a minute)
At first I wondered if she was going back up for the bird, but here it is sitting on her shoulder!...she takes it everywhere, her kids parties, takes him outside, and he never leaves her side. his wings are clipped and I have to admit he is very sweet. he stepped up without any hesitation onto Sarah's finger, and just cuddled right into her.
he sat on her shoulder once we got off the highway, and he never moved.
we have named him Flare.
as for the food, it was vile what she fed him, sunflower seeds, corn flakes, and seed from WalMart....my skin is crawling right now
but on the good side of things, she did feed Flare, some veggies, and apple.
I took pics on my phone but haven't got them sent to my computer yet.
the previous owner just had Flare Dna'd and should get the results soon.
right now he is settling into his cage(thank god for spares) and relaxing, he doesn't seem to keen on my cockatiels either, but that will come in time.
here is FLARE:
