So this happened on the (my?) property in Oregon yesterday the 24th.

Just for background our pasture is and has been rented out to the same family since my grandparents owned it. It’s not uncommon for the renters to drop off hay or some other items and check that all is well.
They’ve had everything from Lamas (or Alpacas) to miniature horses. Up here.

So last evening I drove down the hill (tried to anyway) and found myself blocked.. with much difficulty and a bit of swearing (and good use of 4 wheel drive).
Here is the dash cam video for my abriviated trip. Please feel free to zoom in and pause at closest approach.
Continued in next post.

I had barely parked and started walking back to the house when I heard loud and approaching sirens.

Lo and behold the fire truck and the ambulance following it drove up my driveway and started assisting the folks I……ran into so to speak.

I was afraid one of the renters got hurt but not wanting to pester them when their in difficulty I sent text messages saying hope everything was ok.

But then….
I noticed 3 head of cattle were wandering up the driveway headed towards the street.

Went into emergency mode and called the renters .
They cam out and took care of the wayward cattle but informed me it wasn’t them that came by earlier and whoever it was busted the gate between the cows and the driveway.
Here is a short video of the first responders arriving.

So… I’m thinking about trying to get the 911 call that brought the first responders and maybe tracking them down.

Whoever was there was trespassing and the property is clearly marked.
What’s more they had to know the correct address to call the first responders so what was their purpose .
What in Heck was going on.
Was able to make out with binoculars one person was taken away on a stretcher.
3 definitely females were left and one appeared to have her knee wrapped in a blue (bandage).

I don't know Oregon law. However I would certainly follow up and find out what they claimed to be doing there. Also make sure the property is properly marked no trespassing according to the local law.
Even if these people are trespassing they can still try to sue you because they got hurt on your property.

Couldn't tell from the video but did they have equipment with them to contain the cattle and haul them away? If not probably not rustlers. We have had a good deal of rustling around here.
They should at least be charged for the damage they did and get a legal trespass order from the property.
Again I have no clue about Oregon law.

I have filled a freedom of information request with the local police. I should be able to get a recording of the 911 call and hopefully the names of those involved.
Going to take a week to 10 days and 75 smackeroos.

It looked like they were in an SUV or a pickup with camper shell. There are two small calf’s with the heard.
They might have thought they could cram the calf in the back. IDK.
Cows are fairly docile animals and not prone to attack humans (not counting bull’s and there aren’t any right now) but if you mess with a baby that could get them defensive.
Riled up don’t you know.

In the dash cam video it “looks like” they have luggage standing next to them but it looks a little too big to be suitcases.

Ok I think I know what happened.

First the “luggage “ is a golf cart laying on its side. Wheels facing right and top facing left.

Second the suspects.
I …… my father and stepmother liked to have parties.🎈
Now this was several years ago before the dementia set in.
But I remember being at one of these shindigs and seeing a young (9 year old) girl wandering around seemingly not attached with anyone.
Was informed she was a neighbor who liked to show up anytime there was entertainment.
I heard from the sheriffs department that the girl driving the golf cart was a 15 year old with behavioral issues and (get this) with supervision of an 18 year old..
Talk about dumb & dumer.

I think they must have thought going over the little bridge (over irrigation canal) at bottom of hill would be a thrill. Catch a little air time.
Maybe they got away with it before.
Didn’t go so well this time.

So they came down to fast jumped or lost control and crashed into the gate of the pasture (letting the cows 🐄 escape).

And one of them got to experience an ambulance ride.
Told the sheriffs to have them …..not banned…..well if they come back are subject to arrest.

Could have been a lot worse in so many ways.
