Chat window

Anyone put the idea across of putting a live cut box on this forum?

i know allot of people only brows but i think a few of us would chat

anyone agree or is this a stupid idea

I would like it with certain people here, but puting chat windows could open the forum up to improper use. Yes, people can still send PMs, but it is not terribly convenient. I am a bit Leary of any web site where adults can chat with kids unsupervised to be honest, even if it starts out about birds. Call me paranoid and hyper vigilant, but as the sister of a child who was raped, I have my eyes wide open and on the lookout for anything a predator could use to build a relationship with a child, and chat windows on "safe" websites like this could be just that.

Unfortunately an active chat window would be ridiculously hard for us volunteer mods to keep an eye on.

You're more than welcome to start a thread in the off topic section for random conversations, or using the PM system works too.

I would like it...but I agree it would be terribly hard to control and monitor...even for SUPER Moderators!!!

I think the reasons mentioned above are valid as to why it wouldn't be a good idea in the long run.

Of course changes of that nature would need to go through site administrators, and I don't know if it's even possible in the vBulletin program anyway (?)
