Birds are funny.

I bought a new bath for them since I dropped the old one and cracked it. It’s the rainy season here and everyone in my flock takes bathing very seriously during the rainy season (metal roof + heavy rain = bathing conures). Normally they will literally jump into anything that looks wet

Everyone took turns staring skeptically at the new equipment (I might have brought home a “bird-eating” machine after all :09:). Stanley & Bindi tasted the water from the safety of my arm but no one even dipped a toe in. I’m not one to push things on them, so we just played with stuff nearby and ignored it.

I’ll leave it running for a few days near them, maybe they’ll try it out eventually.

I guess if they don’t use it, the cat will get a new water bowl 😂

Love the pictures, and the captured skepticism !!

What is this cool fountain??? Is it made for parrots? Can it stand your parrots putting food and seeds into it????

It’s just a pet water dish off Amazon. It’s probably not able to tolerate parrots putting food into it (I imagine it would clog up pretty fast). Their old “bath” was also a recirculating water bowl and they loved it.

Appears the new bath is in birdie "quarantine." I bet you'll soon see them gleefully flapping and enjoying a new source of water.

I want one now....
But all my birds dump stuff in water...

I'm voting they will take to it as so as it is verified not to be radioactive, or doesn't eat them.

The radioactivity will wear off eventually [emoji23][emoji23]

Bath verified for not being radioactive ☢️

Figured out the issue - the water stream was too quiet. Put my finger into the water stream so that there was running water noise.

*Snap* Bindi put on her sultry “I’m gonna dive in” look....and in she went 😂

Sun conures are unreal beautiful!!!

Hi there. Your post made me investigate other recirculating water bowls, and I bought this one for Salty, who loves the sound of running water, but is afraid of our black sink. This one look like it has a bigger bowl area, easier for him to splash around in. Thanks for the idea!

I looked at that one too! I hope you’ll post pics of Salty’s thoughts and reactions to the new tub :)

WOW! Love the bath Jen! Amy would barely get one of his feet and "drum stick" in there however and BB is allergic to water ( or so he thinks ) He did once or twice roll around under the kitchen faucet though. It might make him think that bathing is a good thing to do and daddy wouldn't need to hold him and bird handle him. Amy enjoys the misting bottle or hanging upside down from his perch stick while showering with me too.

My cockatiel is spray bottle ONLY. She does not love running water or pools so much. I’m pretty sure that conures are part duck :D

I just wish Rio and Cosmo would learn there large stainless steel water bowel is for BATHS and not there food dipping cup! Never have figured out why suns have to dip there food in water when those beaks are so powerful....especially on fingers!!!!

My GCC loves taking a bath in her water bowl. Usually unannounced. She won't go near any bird bath since she moved into her new cage.

Running water bath bowl should arrive today. I'll let all know what happens. Salty is a water dish bather, but will occasionally enjoy a spray bottle bath. Hoping this new thingy will trigger his bathing instincts, as he goes bananas when we use the kitchen sink.
