Ok so I have people say they give their parrots chicken bones the birds love the bone marrow is this good for them

Mine eat them all the time w/meat on them.

My birds love them. They know when i fix chicken they get a littli bit of meat and a bone. Plus it is real quiet in my house for a little while after they get it.

lmao an awww lol

nut loves the grissle a little meat and the marrow :32: but remember marrow is fattening, it freaked my friends out when they realised nut liked chicken an eggs?? (me an all at the start) as in my mind it was a tad canibalistic, but then again eagles eat other birds?? lol

I asked my avaian vet and he said it was ok to give them the bones. My grey will do anything for a c bone.

Raw or cooked? I heard cooked chicken bones shouldn't be fed to animals as they're easily splintered. Can anyone just tell me how they feed their birds chicken? ^^

I feed my birds chicken breast meat, I know the bone part is good but I don't feed them to my birds because of my dogs. If they throw them out to the dogs then we have a problem....

I haven't tried giving my birds a chicken bone. They will both nibble at chicken (or turkey) meat. I will have to give them each a bone next time I have chicken!

I must be old school but I was told by a breeder that she never gives meat to her birds cause it causes self mutilation ? is this true and if not I wonder where she got that tidbit of info .

You are old school. Birds can eat turkey, chicken or tuna or salmon, all cooked of course. Rosie has eaten chicken wings for over 2 years now. She is very healthy.

One of my amazons very favorite things is the legs off of blue crabs that have been steamed or boiled.just the ends that don't have enough meat for humans to mess with. All 8 of our inside amazons love em.

I always thought shellfish was a no no. I know Merlin went ape after some shrimp. I wouldn't let him have them.

Mine eat shrimp and all that, never had an issue .What have you hear about that sort of stuff.

I've found all kinds of conflicting "no" list items. Mostly about plants. I've cut down on the houseplants I have, its better to just not have to worry about it. Mine are so large that they're a pain anyway. Let someone else carry them around. lol

oh lol better to be safe then sorry, but nut lurves shrimps :) but i have to bath her after or she smells fishy lol

Inside the thigh of most chicken pieces there is some kind of organ meat, I'm not sure what it is, but Boo goes ape for it. If I put a thigh bone in his food bowl he first turns it over and over until he's found that bit and pulls it out and eats it. His eyes pin and flash the whole time and he makes his growly noise that says he's loving it. I don't give it to him often - most organ meat is pretty fatty, and I struggle to keep his weight where it should be - but when he gets it he's in heaven.

i love it when our birds show sich delight with a goodie :)

Merlin has lately been eating enriched wheat macaroni! Yea, this is one good food that he actually liked. He even has been eating little bits of tomato too. He is such a pain about food.
