I am about to bring home my first GCC, and would like to use clicker training with him. I love the idea and have been doing a lot of research, but I have one question still: what about training multiple birds in the same home? I assume one could simply move the bird to another room for a training session, but all of life is a training session in some ways. So multiple bird owners, do you find that your birds ever get confused about who you are clicking at and wonder why they did not get a treat, or am I being silly?

Monkey see, monkey do. Birds can learn from each other while training!

I haven't tried clicker training yet with my new conure and I've had her for 4 months. My second conure is not clicker trained, but I did teach him a few things. If I ever do try using the clicker, I can let you know how it goes! ;) (found both my clickers! just haven't used them.... lol)

I have two young birds. I clicker train both birds together in the same room. If your bird is focused on you, he/she will know when you are talking to them, or the other bird. Also, observational learning is possible as one bird watches the other.

Well, I am not using clickers but I am using the word "good" instead. Plus sometimes you don't need a click if you can deliver the treat quick enough.

Anyway, to answer your question. I work with my birds individually and in a group and both ways work just differently.

Generally, my group is 4-6 caiques and rarely are they ever all paying attention so it only ends up being two or three at a time. They seem to know who I'm talking too.

The biggest thing is not being able to deliver the treats fast enough. My best learner is also a fiend for treats and will sometimes jump onto my hand to try and get his treat instead of waiting, so that can be a challenge.

With two you can probably do it just fine. I would still give individual lesson as well.

It should be lots of fun!!!

Yes they can learn from watching the other ones doing it but I also do individual training as well for the rough mean ones cause one bad move from the mean one would set everyone else off as well. That's something you need to watch for.
