Mango- Sun Conure
The lady we got mango from said we should just clip the blue wings he grows. She said she had recently done it. However he flew around the room the other day so apparently they are not fully clipped.can someone explain how they clip their conures wings? Pictures or videos would be awesome! Thanks guys!:orange:

Do you have an avian vet you can take him to? Wing clipping isn't something for an inexperienced bird owner to do just from some pics or videos.

You should be taking a new bird to an avain vet after about 2 weeks for a wellness/baseline exam. There they can show you the proper way to clip wings and toes. Please do not clip wings until you have had instructions. If clipped the correct way the bird can still fly but cannot fly up. It may be the last 2-4 flight feathers that are clipped. By the way if you home is bird safe it is ok to not clip and let them enjoy free flight. Enjoy your new sunnie.

Ok. We were getting ready to take him to a vet soon. I was just going to see what everyones advice was. Thanks!

Mine came clipped, and the breeder I got him from does a really good job at clipping the wings. I even got a compliment on how well the wings were clipped! I'd take my baby back to the breeder and pay him to clip again. You can ask your breeder if this is ok with them or just do it at an avian vet. I get toes at a bird store though. Sometimes they're good and sometimes they nick his quick. Depends on the lady but I know which lady does it good and ask for her when she's around.
