Is a cockatiel louder then a female budgie?? i'm asking because i have a female budgie and she figured out if she copies a chickadee she can crank up the volume! more then i thought a budgie could haha but my little sister really likes her and i was considering giving her to her because she's already tamed and all that good stuff, but idk..what do you guys think?? anyway i was thinking if i do i would probably get a cockatiel. i live in the dorms and andi doesn't make enough noise to get anyone's attention so she's fine in there but i don't know if a cockatiel would be ok? (fyi pets aren't allowed for dumb reasons they couldn't even explain) and before anyone gets crazy haha i have somewhere to hold her for a couple days in case anyone rats me out but either way i won't have to get rid of the bird:))

i think a cockatiel is ok, but they are definately louder than a budgie. Also, just because your sister likes her doesnt mean you should give her away. I'm sure your sister is a responsible girl, capable of taking care of your budgie. My concern is that later in life there is college, dating, sports, and other things that could leave less time for the bird. If you feel your budgie will be fully tended to for the rest of his life, then I'm sure your sister gain a wonderful birdie friend :). Also if you get the cockatiel, its a 20+ year commitment and allot more work than a budgie. good luck in your decision :)!

My grandmother also really wants her haha and I no the work I'm planning on getting a sun conure and macaw when I'm out of college:)) I heard females are a lot quieter and cuddlier and such which is actually a strong preference is this true??

Yes, they are louder than budgies, but the thing is that the budgies never shut up!

I've found female tiels to be quieter, but I've also had one that could sqwak up a storm when she felt like it. Whatever you get, assume it's going to be the loudest possible for that species because you never know, lol.

When we had cockatiels they had there moments when they would tend to be louder than our budgies but for some strange reason the budgies tended to be the loudest lol but I'd say a tiels volume level is OK compared to there larger cockatoo cousens

i have also heard that females are more cuddly, but not necessarily quieter. the males tend to be more vocal and learn more whistles, some learn to talk. but the females are just as capable of making loud noises as the males are. also, females need more calcium, as quiet a few lay eggs, even without a male. in the future, that macaw and sun conure will be yours in no time :D

So you guys dont think she'll make enough noise to get any attention? and ann i hope so! i cant wait! perfect age to get a baby gw:)) haha or maybe a rescue! who no's. my local breeder has a normal grey and a lutino! not sure they're sexes but im REALLY hoping the lutino is a female! *fingers crossed*

i was also thinking maybe i could just get andi a bf and let her stay with my mom so i can still see her?? i like that better haha

i guess i got lucky with andi! she's only loud and does that ACK ACK! and chickadee sound when she's real excited! lol crazy bird. other then that she jus likes to play on her playgym or sit on top of the blinds quietly all day with some accational head scratches:)
