Okay, so I have a sun conure, she is about 3.5 years old. She is great. Relatively well behaved (as well as any birb). She isnt a biter, is mostly potty trained, isn't super loud most of the time. All of that goes out the window when large groups come over. Usually once a week we host a game night, and anywhere from 3 other to 7 other friends come over. And she LOVES new people, a little too much. Her little brain goes haywire and if she isnt out of her cage, she screams. If she is out, she will act all cute with people and then take advantage of their non knowledge of her idiosyncrasies, and start biting, yelling into ears, scaring people, etc. My solution to all of this is to put her is a cage upstairs in my bedroom. I load it up with treats, toys, things to do, etc. I just feel so bad locking her up upstairs all by herself. It is usually about a 2 to 3 hour period when she isnt asleep upstairs alone. Is this a bad thing to do? It seems like a good solution I just feel guilty. I try to train people to interact with her, but it is a full time job to make sure she is behaving with them, and not conducive to actually socializing with my friends and playing games.
