Considering an umbrella and have a couple of questions

She does go after feet and especially bare feet. I don't like this.

This is actually very common in toos! haha. Don't know what it is, but they seem to really like to go after feet. :p

I am worried though, he rubs her all over her body, under wings, etc. Of course, she loves it. If I just stick to her neck and above, will she get used to that and still bond with me?

I don't see why not!

Sounds pretty promising to me. I say go for it! :)

I did it! Yay me!!! I get to bring her home tomorrow. My whole family has met her and everyone is so excited with our new addition. I plan to stick very close to home for a few weeks to make sure she is okay. It will be hard not to spoil her but I know that would be setting every one up for failure.
I'm mostly worried that my cats will adjust. I am going to keep close tabs on all. I am hoping they will all learn to have mutual respect with one another.
Wish me luck!
Thank you all for your kind replies. I really appreciate your generous feedback!

If I could go back in time I would not have gotten my umbrella only because of the amount of attention they require. I love syndey and he is an amazing, intelligent, and loving bird. With that being said if you can give an umbrella enough attention and can stand the yelling they do(which can be a lot) they are very affectionate and amazing birds.

And yes toos love bare feet so watch out! Lol

Hey Sprince, CONGRATULATIONS! Please keep us all updated on your progress with your new girl. I am very excited for you.

I have adopted one U2 and rescued 2 other U2`s along with adopting a Citron Too. Every U2 I have had was just a pleasure to have. They were all very loving and friendly birds. My adopted birds adopted me as their parront not the other way around which will save you a lot of disappointment later as they will choose who they like and dislike. Some prefer men while others prefer females so it is important to visit the bird many times.
Adopting Too`s is so important because we have so many in the rescues waiting for good homes. Toos are not the easiest birds to have and sometimes can get out of hand if mishandled. Read and educate yourself as much as possible before getting involved with a Too. Once you can understand them they are wonderful companions and friends. I wouldn`t trade my Too`s for anything. The Too`s I have rehomed for people I made them educate themselves on the Too`s first and so far has worked well.

That's great! Congrats and thank you for offering her a home. :emoticonc
I'm sure she'll be a wonderful addition to the family.

As for the cats...I have five of them, and I was wondering how things would go when I brought home my galah. My little birds don't EVER come out of the bird room, for obvious reasons (cats + cockatiels = tragedy), but Flower is just big enough not to look like a snack/toy.

Naturally, the cats are curious, and at first they sniffed at her and wanted to play. Of course, she wasn't into that idea, so she gave them a few threat displays (crest up, wings out, "get out of my face" posture). They've now realized that she's not going to play with them, and have lost interest. They do like to watch her, but she ignores them for the most part and they keep their distance.

Thank you Athena-drifter! I have 5 cats too. 3 of them have been looking at her but when she puffs up and flaps it scares them. I'm actually looking forward to seeing the cats reaction when she screams for the first time! For the first few weeks I am going to cover her cage to ensure she gets enough shut eye. I really appreciate your positive support! Xoxo

I wouldn't worry too much with the cats since you got a U2. My cats were terrified of Java the U2. When he screams they scatter. Good luck with her!!!
