PLEASE does anyone know specifics on keeping my parrot safe from a wild bird?
I have a baby dove found in my yard. I would like to keep & nurture the dove til it seems ready to leave. Honestly I wish I could keep the baby as I have had a pet pigeon before who was a lovely companion. So at this point the wild bird is outside & I wash my hands after contact before touching my parrot. Could I safely bring the dove in the house ( it's cold here) & keep them in separate rooms.
And, finally could they be close to each other after some period of quarantine with the dove becoming a house pet?

The dove probably has parasites (all wild birds do) and would need to be treated before you even consider putting them in the same room.

Absolutely right. Min 30 day quarantine, and have it seen by an AVAIN vet for exam and any treatments. And dont forget, there would be the new dynamic if you add this little one, with your existing parrot.

If you live in the US or Canada it is illegal to keep the wild dove as a pet under the Migratory Bird Act. You can't even legally care for the baby dove.
I'm not saying not to do it because in all practicality you wouldn't get arrested unless someeone turned you in, but if you bring the dove to a vet they will likely refuse to treat it.
