1 green cheek conure
Hello,
I have a sick GCC :(. When I brought him to his vet he was given antibiotics and got a culture done of what flushed out of his nose. After 1 1/2 weeks the culture results came back and the vet told me the bacteria Tak has is resistant to the antibiotic I have been giving him so he switched him to a different antibiotic for 14 days those worked good and he didn't have symptoms of his sickness the last week taking them. Now Tak has been off antibiotics for 3 days and is showing mild symptoms again. My parrot has an appt on sat (due to the holiday) and is probably going to be put back on antibiotics. The poor bird has been on them for a month now.
I guess my question is what is the longest your parrot has been antibiotics? I'm worried my boy is going to be on them for a while because this infection has been a tough one for him to kick.

I am so sorry to hear he isn't feeling well! I don't know anything about antibiotics for them as mine have never been on them. However, I wanted to let you know I will keep him in my thoughts and Prayers.

Several months... sometimes off meds for a short bird in-between new medications... with two older birds that both had health problems.... and eventually both died from their health problems. :(

Is your green cheek getting any antibiotics? Any idea what's causing the infection? Would it help to give flushes in conjunction to receiving medications?
