Hello!
So first of all I don't own any birds (have fallen in love with them though), but my girlfriend owns a green cheek conure named Phoenix. A two and a half year old which has turned aggressive for almost no reason.

She has owned Phoenix for a little over 2 years. Phoenix has always been shy around me even though I've seen her a couple times a week for the last one and a half years. Phoenix still is uneasy around me for some reason, I've never forced anything onto the bird. Whenever I come over I always greet her in her cage and offer her some of her favorite sunflower seed.

The only times phoenix will willingly come to me is if I have a hand full of seed. I mean there has been some nights where she would crawl on me and let me give her scratches but it's rare.

But about a month ago I came over, greeted her and handed her a sunflower through her cage bars as I normally do. But that time she lunged at my finger instead and bit me quite hard. It came as a shock to me because she has never bitten me to cause harm like that before. Now every time I put my hand near her cage she will try and attack me.
She gets really defensive now and will poof her feathers up and sometimes do a weird head jerk movement that she's never done before.

She has also started being more aggressive to my girlfriend (the owner) but not as bad. I just don't understand why all of a sudden the mood change? The only thing I can think of is that I did have my hair up in a mohawk that day when she first started being aggressive towards me. Idk if that might have triggered her or something? lol

Thanks to anyone who reads. Any input would be much appreciated. If there is anything I left out just ask and I will answer. She's not my bird but I am always around her.

Pair bond bird.

Overbonding.

(Just an educated guess...)

Disfavored person training. It's posted.

More aggressive with you, because you take her attention away from him.

More aggressive with her, because, hey pay attention to me, not him...

Yep, duplicate of our Bongo! I been following the above post and it has been working very well! No longer Bongo the Barbarian!
