Hello,

Is this food good for our Conure:
ZuPreem Natural Medium Bird Food | Food | PetSmart

On the package, it doesn't say Conure at all, but it can be used for any medium type birds, so i wasn't sure.

There also similar package, but, the peaces are much bigger, i dont think this little baby can eat it properly.

Or would you recommend anything else?

Thanks! :)

We feed that size pellets to our two birds, both of whom weigh 200-220 grams each. If you have a little conure, they may be a little big. Some birds will enjoy tackling big pellets and gnawing away, but others might decide that they don't count as food.

Thank you very much for responding.

I was told by petsmart stuff that this is Conure food:

However, this is at least 2 times bigger then one i provided in opening post, this is why i was confused :)

Thanks!

I go with the Smaller size, shows a cockatiel.
It's not a bad pellet, mixed with other things in the diet!

Thank you!

Would you recommend any other?

There is also something like this:
ZuPreem FruitBlend Medium Bird Food | Food | PetSmart

Kiki eats a lot of Apple daily, sometimes peaches.
So, not sure if i should get Fruit pellet as well, or keep feeding him with "Natural" + Seeds , since he is taking fruit (fresh).

Thanks all

They make the same food in multiple sizes, so the employee might have been confused, or perhaps not very bird-knowledgable. Also, conures come in different sizes. Mine Patagonian is the largest of the conures, but if you have a Sun or a Green Cheek s/he'll be about a half the size of my birdy.

You can break up the oversize pellets, or you can use them to make a veggies-n-stuff soft food. That's what we do with Zupreem pellets.

Thank you! Probably, she was as knowledgeable as me :)

This is Green Cheek Yellow Sided Conure.

Weight, not sure, but i will find out that today :)

I also get cockatiel size food. That seems to work well. They can eat the bigger stuff it just might be hard and more food wasted. It really just come down to size it is still fine food for your bird.

The food that was sent with Leo when we took him in was far too big. Now wonder he was eating only seed! I happened to have a mortar and pestle laying around (there are advantages to living with a lab scientist) that was clean so I used that to roughly crush the too big pellets and he ate without a second thought. I agree that trying to cut up or crush the stuff you already have might work.

Thank you for your response / useful information, appreciated :)

My sun used to dunk the medium pellets, and we didn't like that. Switched to the small and he has largely stopped. I also mist his food to completely alleviate the behavior now.

He's in great health, after a year of the fruit-loop looking stuff, obviously supplemented with extras.

Thanks for info.

I did buy: ZuPreem Natural Medium Bird Food as recommended here, and Kiki doesn't eat it much, i would say, mostly seeds / fresh vegetables / fruit.

He only eats ZuPreem when i give it from my hand.

Not sure if it would be smart to remove seeds for couple of hours, and leave ZuPreem only in the cage, to see if he will start eating that? Or just give it time.

Thanks! :)
