Bobert, on second thought...before you do any serious bathing of your grey, you should get him checked out at a vet. Bathing can/will chill a bird, even if you use warm water. And like us, an occasional chill won't hurt, and might even be refreshing, if he's healthy! Birds who aren't getting enough nutrition (greys need extra calcium!) can't cope with things such as getting cold as well as healthy birds.
Getting him checked out at a good vet is a TINY price to pay for not watching a beloved buddy die "unexpectedly." Trust me.
By the way, one way you can start to get a parrot to like a hand dryer, is to first just blow on him softly. Gentle (very) puffs of warm breath to ruffle his neck feathers, and make him start to close his eyes. This indirectly causes him to start with the bonding process, as closing their eyes around you is a sign of trust. You can do this when he gets comfortable enough to sit next to you through the bars of his cage. Plus, it also leads to the "head shaking game". Greys love to shake their heads...nobody knows why. I trained Gandalf to do the "brrrrrrrrr" lips smacking around sound when he did it.
