Cinnamon Green Check Counure (Clarence), Sun Counure (Mango)
Hello Everyone!
I first want to say this is my first post and I am sure glad I found this tie.
THe bird I have questions about is my 7 year old cinnamon green check Counure, Clarence. I noticed about four days ago his chest feather and where really grey and fuzzy looking. It was only a little patch but there was a some fuzzy feathers at the bottom of his cage. Everyday he has been getting more of these fuzzy grey feathers and loosing his other feathers. Today it's almost al over his body! He has been acting normal in every other way. I thought about plucking but he has no bald spots and I haven't ever noticed him plucking. After doing some research I can up with nothing and I won't be able to get to a vet until tomorrow as we live out of town. I'm wondering if anyone knows what is and if he could be really sick.
ANY information is helpful.Thanks
-Summer

Poor baby :(

My first impression from the photo was plucking because the affected areas were the chest, legs and wings where his beak would reach. I could be wrong though. I'm so glad you're taking him to the vet tomorrow. I hope he has answers for you. Please update us!

Like BoomBoom it could be plucking but you never know. Excellent job at already booking a vet appointment

Well defined comments from those members above and also glad you are seeing your Vet.

In addition, you could be seeing 'Over Preening' or 'Barbering,' both have like results. Seeing your Avian Vet will and should target likely sources causing what you are seeing. In addition to a detail examination and a full blood screen. Depending on findings, your CAV may also take a skin sample of the effected area(s) and one from a non-affected area.

Thank-you, for taking your Parrot to an Avian Vet!
