Hi all, Before I pick up my bird I have a few things I would l like opinions on:
Chemicals, are the following safe. Clorox disinfecting wipes, edge shaving gel, degree roll-on, swifter wet for floor. I know the general rule is to use common sense but I am looking for more specific answers.
Candles, I read about candles and birds but the gal I am getting the bird from, as I walked in her house a candle (sented) was burning in the kitchen, we went into the next room where bird was. walked through an open doorway between the two rooms. Is this safe????
Placement of cage: I my particular situation I many out side walls available for the cage. When checking temps on the walls with laser temp gage most walls in the low 60's. Temperature is set at 68. As far as humans go we are comfortable at that temp. Is this safe for cage at outside wall or should I rearrange to allow inside wall.
thanks in advance for comments

Welcome to the forums Alan, hope you enjoy your stay ! ! !

To answer your questions, here's my thoughts:

Clorox disinfecting wipes they are normally safe when not used in the immediate area of your bird(s) breathing space; edge shaving gel should be OK as long as you don't try giving your feathered friend a Brazilian; degree roll-on again, should be OK as long as you keep it away from your feathered friend; swifter wet for floor. I know the general rule is to use common sense but I am looking for more specific answers Some have listed many cleaning products/systems as dangerous, but many have no real validity http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/swiffer.asp;

Is this safe???? personally, I think the breeder used poor judgement and poor common sense, but candles are another area that is controversial when talking to bird owners and is a topic that each of us must make on their own, given the best information the owner has at their disposal.....anything burning gives off an amount of soot, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide along with a laundry list of chemicals, depending on what was used in a given candle;

The temps you posted are safe for locating a cage...just be careful if and when temperatures rise above 75 degrees Fahrenheit...moving air is always better than standing air.....

Good luck.....
